The HRCI does not determine the passing score in the normal way. HRCI uses the modified Angoff method to set the score on every Exam, which is basically a standard method that uses field experts for setting cut scores on credentialing exams. A cutoff score is defined as the lowest score of the candidate. This method decides exactly how many questions you need to answer correctly to pass the Exam.
